4 GUARDIAN - 04 - BUSHFIRE
BUSHFIRE
Guardian screens are suitable for bushfire prone areas.
With stainless steel mesh, Guardian screens are approved up to the extreme Bushfire Attack Level 40 (BAL 40).
The Australian Standard for construction of homes in bushfire prone zones (AS 3959) simply states that openable windows must be screened with corrosion-resistant steel, bronze or aluminium mesh with an opening of less than 2 mm x 2 mm.
You can rely on Prowler Proof Guardian designs – even in a bushfire.
5 - GUARDIAN - 05 - CORROSION
CORROSION
Whenever two different metals interact there's a risk of corrosion. So the fact that Prowler Proof is welded instead of being held together by screws or rivets makes it more corrosion-resistant than other screens.
Guardian is one of very few complete screens that has passed the 1,000 hour neutral salt spray test – most manufacturers only test the mesh.
NEUTRAL SALT SPRAY TEST (AS 2331.3.1)
THE TEST
Guardian has been tested to the Australian Standard 2331 which requires the product to survive a 1,000 hour neutral salt spray test.
This test is an accelerated corrosion process that takes place in an enclosed chamber.
The spray is saltier than sea water and the temperature is maintained at +35ºC with almost 100% humidity.
THE RESULTS
Passed.
Guardian is one of very few complete security screens that have passed the test – most manufacturers only test the mesh.
Guardian's 304 stainless steel mesh has actually survived a 3,000 hour salt spray test.
YOUR BENEFIT

7 - GUARDIAN - 07 - INSECT PROTECTION
INSECT PROTECTION
Guardian is not only a fall prevention screen, it is also great at keeping insects at bay. The openings in the mesh measure 1.3 mm – big enough for you to enjoy your view, small enough to keep just about all small creatures outside where they belong.
8 - GUARDIAN - 08 - ACCESS CONTROL
ACCESS CONTROL
Prowler Proof Protec allows unassisted access for pets or people, through the addition of optional access control accessories, such as keying locks alike, pet doors for family pets and solid panels for easier wheelchair accessibility.
9 - GUARDIAN - 09 - FALL PREVENTION
FALL PREVENTION
The National Construction Code (NCC) / Building Code of Australia (BCA) requires openable windows in bedrooms of new residential buildings – where the floor below the window is more than 2m above the surface beneath – to be protected to reduce the risk of falling.
Windows must be fitted with either a device to restrict the window opening or a suitable screen, so a 125mm diameter sphere cannot pass through. The device or screen must also be able to withstand an outward horizontal force of 250N (25kg).
Prowler Proof Guardian meets the fall prevention requirements of The National Construction Code (NCC).
